Laundry Room Reveal

The Spring 2021 One Room Challenge is officially over and I finished the laundry room just a few days past the “deadline”. The great thing about the challenge is that, it’s totally okay if you don’t finish on time. There are plenty of people still finishing their spaces and celebrating reaching the finish line.

You can catch up on how I did the countertops here, and how I hid the washer and dryer hookups here. Maybe next time I’ll be better about posting weekly.

This was the original mood board:

As you can see, I omitted the hanging rod. I love the idea of it but we haven’t hung anything to dry in like ever. Nor have we ever said, “Man I wish I could hang this up.” So I didn’t want to include an element that wasn’t functionally necessary. Are you a hang stuff up to dry person?

I’m technically not done. I need to paint the grout and seal the tiles. I’ll get around to it though. It’s necessary because those tiles get super dirty and they can be a pain to clean.

So, the goal of this space was to make it an extension of the home. Since it is right off of the kitchen, I wanted to mimic some of the elements like the warm wood, dark cabinets and brass elements. If you followed along during this process on IG, you know that I had originally painted the whole room in Accessible Beige but I didn’t love it so I kept all the trim that color and painted the walls Greek Villa. The doors and cabinets are my favorite black: Tricorn Black. I had them all color matched to Behr paint.

I won’t say that I like doing laundry any more than I did previously but at least I can look at a pretty space while I’m doing it. All sources are linked below except the light which looks like West Elm no longer carries.

I’m replying to your hanging rod situation. I love not seeing one! I actually hang dry a lot of things like activewear clothing and shirts that might shrink but I use Ballard Designs French Drying Rack. I had the five bar one for years and then bought the seven bar one to hide an electrical panel in a rental apartment. Now I have the large one from the rental in my laundry space. I like it folded up best aka when the laundry is all folded and put away.
