Serene, Plant Inspired, Gender Neutral Nursery
You guy, I finally finished the nursery! By finally finished, I mean I hung the bookshelves that have been lying on the floor for over 3 weeks. This coming Saturday, I will be 38 weeks and my energy levels have been super low. Also, I’m not sleeping well what with going to the bathroom every hour and SPD pain when I roll over at night but, with just a few weeks left before little man makes his appearance, I wanted to at least finish his space. Don’t worry, all sources are at the end and most have a direct link.

Although he won’t actually be sleeping in the nursery for a few months, it is where I plan to do a lot of feeding/pumping/rocking so it was at the top of my to-do list. Unlike packing a hospital bag which I still haven’t done. So basically, the overall nursery vibe I was going here was calm and serene. I didn’t want a specific theme, bold colors or too many design elements. Not that I don’t love those things, but I wanted this space to feel peaceful above all else.

Inspiration
The word “peace” is what really drove my design decisions for his nursery. Seriously, every time I walk in here, that’s exactly what I feel: peace. I knew I didn’t want to spend too much on furniture (this is our last baby) and so the crib from Ikea was a no-brainer at only $79. The first thing I actually purchased was the rug. I let that guide the rest of the design. Second, I picked the green, velvet curtains (also Ikea) knowing that green would be one of the accent colors and I chose to incorporate it through plants instead of green furniture. Lastly, plants, earthy colors, texture, natural woods and hints of gold are all elements I wanted represented in this nursery.
